Second Hour: Lateral Puzzle

Lateral puzzles are puzzles that challenge your thinking and help you develop skills in questioning, deduction and logic. Lateral puzzles do not have one correct answer, but there is an answer provided in the book. Your job is to think as many possible solutions that explain the question. When we use lateral puzzles in small groups, you can ask questions, but since you cannot ask a question and have an immediate response on the blog, I will post the clues as well. ASK QUESTIONS on the blog or OFFER POSSIBLE SUGGESTIONS. REMEMBER THAT THESE PUZZLES SHOULD CHALLENGE YOUR THINKING!

A man went around the world in a ship. Yet he was always in sight of land. How come?

CLUES:
(1) He went around quite quickly
(2) He saw Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and South America
(3) He didn't sail the ship
